In that the time, his Prep team have reached the Super 8 title game three times and were crowned the Super 8 Champion in 2015. Prior to taking over the Prep program, Kristian spent seven seasons as the head coach at Salem High School, MA where the team captured two NEC South titles and qualified for the state tournament for the first time in the program’s history. Throughout his time at the Prep, Coach Hanson has helped develop a number of Massachusetts raised players selected in the NHL draft including; Sam Kurker (St. Louis Blues), Brian Pinho (Washington Capitals), Shane Eiserman (Ottawa Senators), Tyler Bird (Columbus Bluejackets) and Colin Blackwell (San Jose Sharks). In addition Coach Hanson has seen a number of players move on to play at the NCAA Division 1 and 3 levels. Prior to his coaching career, Kristian played at St. Johns Prep before moving to Hockey East staple, UNH where he played his college hockey under legendary head coach Dick Umile.

"As a program we couldn't be happier to have Coach Hanson on board. He brings over 18 years of coaching experience, knowledge and a tradition of success and development that he will be able to share with our kids."

ANNOUNCEMENT - New Skills and Power Skating Coach
by martha crowther posted 02/07/2018

The New England Predators are excited to announce the addition of our new Skills and Power Skating Coach Jon Hutcheon!

Coach Hutcheon: Director of Player Development:
Jon started High End Hockey in 2010 with a small skills group and one summer tournament team. Since then, High End Hockey has grown and now trains over 500 players each summer among skills, 3-on-3 leagues, and tournament teams. Jon works with players of all levels: NHL, AHL, ECHL, SPHL, SM-Liga, SEL, DEL, NCAA D1/D3, Junior A, Midget, Prep School, and even Learn to Play. Jon also is a skills instructor for the NHL's St. Louis Blues at their yearly Prospects Camp in July. Jon has run skills clinics for the past 10 years and has become well-known in the hockey community for the fast-paced, high-tempo programs he develops. His teaching is second to none as he is able to quickly identify players’ deficiencies and work with each player to correct them. Having spent three years as a family advisor, Jon has helped players earn spots at prep schools, junior teams, and NCAA Hockey programs. Under his guidance, players have gone on to play at every level in North America. As a player, Jon had a successful career that included four (4) years playing professionally. He spent time in the Central Hockey League, Southern Pro Hockey League, and the All American Hockey League. Jon spent seven (7) seasons as a coach (four as head coach) with the Neponset Valley River Rats 18U team with whom he won a USA Hockey Tier 1 National Championship (2012-13), a Massachusetts State Championship, and three straight Mass Select League titles. He is the youngest coach in USA Hockey history to coach a National Championship team. His River Rats team compiled a 85-24-5 record over his four (4) seasons as head coach. From there, he spent three seasons with the Boston Jr Rangers 18U Tier 1 team. Currently, Jon is back with the NV River Rats 16U and 18U teams. Jon is also the New England Region scout for the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL.

“Being in the market for a new Director of Player Development, we couldn’t be happier than landing Jon. His skills instruction is top shelf, as seen by the number of current NHL players like Connor Sheary (Pittsburgh, NHL), Brian Dumoulin (Pittsburgh, NHL) and Bobby Farnham (Springfield, AHL), who seek him out to help them get them ready for their professional season during the summer months. We are thrilled to have Jon be a key piece for our player’s developmental paths”
